Beier and Love fill administrative posts at Appalachian

BOONE—Lucinda McCray Beier is the new chair of the Department of History at Appalachian State University, and Nancy S. Love is the new director of the interdisciplinary studies degree (IDS) program based in University College. Both began their new duties at Appalachian in August.

Children’s book illustrator Susan L. Roth to speak at fundraiser benefitting Appalachian’s library

Appalachian receives $375,000 grant to implement South African Legislative Fellows Program

BOONE–Appalachian State University has received a $375,000 grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to implement a two-year South African Legislative Fellows Program (LFP) designed to strengthen understanding of the U.S. legislative process and enhance appreciation of the role of civic society and its engagement in the political process.

Appalachian State University Golf Classic to be held Sept. 16 at Tanglewood Park

BOONE—This year’s Appalachian State Scholarship Golf Classic, benefiting Appalachian’s Walker College of Business, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons. The event is sponsored by 4 Brothers Food Stores and Beroth Oil Company Inc.

Appalachian rises in U.S. News & World Report’s best colleges rankings; is included in “Top Up-and-Coming Schools” and “Best Undergraduate Teaching” categories
