Pilates “Teaser” Program for Adults

pilates_t.jpgBOONE—Area adults interested in individualized “Authentic Pilates” lessons can receive one-on-one training at Appalachian State University June 6-July 10. The cost is $30 for five lessons.

The program is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance and is an extension of the Pilates Teacher Training program sponsored by Appalachian’s Conferences and Institutes. Lessons are under the supervision of dance faculty members Marianne Adams and Rebecca Quin, and Romana Kryzanowska who is certified in the classical method of “Authentic Pilates.”

Pilates is a method of body conditioning that develops core strength and improves flexibility. Anyone who is interested in fitness can benefit from this gentle, but effective mind-body approach. Since the emphasis is to work in a balanced, efficient and mindful way, it is particularly good for rehabilitation.

Lessons will be taught in a fully equipped studio in Varsity Gym Room 207 on campus. Lesson times will be determined by the instructor, but generally will be offered between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
