PRSSA communication conference April 4

Interested in learning key business skills including negotiation tactics, persuasion methods and compromise procedures from successful individuals?

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at Appalachian State University will host the  interactive university-wide conference “Communication: What’s it all about?” April 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Broyhill Inn and Conference Center’s Bernhardt Room. The conference is open to all university students and faculty.

Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock will open the event with an introduction of keynote speaker Rep. Cullie M. Tarleton from the North Carolina General Assembly.

Also speaking will be Carl M. Crothers, president and executive editor of the Winston-Salem Journal; Karen Moss, executive director of High Country Host; Ben McKethan, an executive with the Hilton Family of Hotels; Jay Weisberger, field communications manager with Skanska USA Building Inc.; Lawrence Howe, a manager with KPMG, an international business auditing network; and Jamie Younger, a public relations representative with Merlefest.

The conference costs $5 which includes lunch. Students should arrive early, ready to network and trade business cards.
