Music faculty perform “An Evening of Encores” Sept. 9

BOONE—Faculty members from Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music will perform “An Evening of Encores” Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall. Admission is free.

James Stokes Jr., trumpet, and Rodney Reynerson, piano, will perform the first movement of “Concerto for Trumpet” by Charles Chaynes.

Mezzo-soprano Priscilla Porterfield will sing Mozart’s “Abendempfindung” and Mahler’s “Lob des hohen Verstands.” She will be accompanied by pianist Bair Shagdaron.

Rob Falvo will perform Japanese composer Keiko Abe’s “Michi” on the marimba.

George Figueroa, violin, and Melissa Lesbines, piano, will perform Camille Saint-Saens’ “Dance Macabre, Op. 40.”

Pianist Rodney Reynerson will perform Claude Debussy’s “The Island of Joy.”

Jon Beebe, bassoon, and Christina Hayes, piano, will perform Ron Nelson’s “And the Moon Rose Golden.”

Julia Pedigo, soprano, and Rodney Reynerson, piano, will perform compositions by Charles Ives and Charles Kingsford.

Nancy Bargerstock, violin, Bair Shagdaron, piano, will perform “Salut d’amour” by Edward Elgar.

The program concludes with “Baroque and Blue” from Claude Bolling’s “Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio” performed by Nancy Schneeloch-Bingham, flute, Lisa Runner, piano, Susan Mills, bass, and Jay Jackson, percussion.
