Pakistani educators hone teaching skills

1_6_m.jpgBiology teachers from Pakistan collect insects in Appalachian State University’s Durham Park. The activity, coordinated by biology professor Ray Williams from the College of Arts and Sciences, showed the visiting instructors how to incorporate hands-on classroom learning in their teaching when they return to Pakistan. A total of 14 teachers from Pakistan are in Boone through Aug. 30 to study various ways to teach biology and conduct field experiments. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State through the International Institute of the Graduate School, U.S. Department of Agriculture. This is the second year that Pakistani educators have come to Appalachian to enhance their teaching. (Appalachian photo by Marie Freeman)
