Concerto and Aria Competition finals held Dec. 2

BOONE—The final round of the Concerto-Aria Competition in Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music will be held Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

“The annual competition identifies the most advanced performers in the Hayes School of Music and gives them the opportunity to gain valuable experience as featured soloists,” said Bill Harbinson, dean of the music school. “The winners will be selected by a panel of judges from those finalists who perform during this recital.”

Winners of the competition will perform with major instrumental ensembles during spring semester 2008.

The program is as follows:

“Harmonic Rhythm” by Russell Peck performed by Stephanie Wilson, timpani, and Steve Sensenig, piano

“Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Op. 28″ by Camille Saint-Sa’
