BOONE—The first college chapter of FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway has been established at Appalachian State University. The chapter is recruiting members who love the parkway and are willing to volunteer their time to help with projects organized by the National Park Service. [more]

BOONE—A performance featuring student brass musicians will be presented Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.
Included on the program are “Four Movements for Five Brass” by Collier Jones, “Greensleeves” arranged by David Uber and “Quintet for Brass, No. 1″ by Victor Ewald.
