Compositions for piano duo featured in Nov. 6 recital

BOONE—Pianists Rodney Reynerson and Bair Shagdaron perform works by Debussy and Rachmaninoff during a Nov. 6 performance at Appalachian State University.

The program begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The program features compositions written for two pianos and four hands.

Reynerson and Shagdaron will perform Debussy’s “Prelude a l’apres-midi d’un faune,” part of a symphonic poem based on a poem by Stéphane Mallarmé. The piece was transcribed for two pianos by Maurice Ravel.

The pianists also will play two pieces written by Rachmaninoff specifically for two pianos: “Suite No. 1, op. 5″ and “Suite No. 2, op. 17.”
