BOONE—More than $85,000 in grants has been awarded to faculty at Appalachian State University through a program called Appalachian Foundation Fellows Grants.
The grants, supported by private donations to the Appalachian State University Foundation, support projects that will enhance a faculty member’s career development in teaching, scholarship or creative activity, and/or service. Each award is limited to $5,000. [more]

BOONE—Appalachian State University has received $98,000 from the N.C. Space Grant Consortium. This is the second year that faculty-student research proposals from Appalachian’s Department of Physics and Astronomy have received funding from this NASA-sponsored program. [more]

New and reappointed members of Appalachian State University’s Board of Trustees were sworn in prior to the board’s Sept. 21 meeting by Superior Court Judge Phil Ginn, far right. New board members beginning four-year terms are G.A. Sywassink, left, Michael A. Steinback, Helen Powers and Avery Hall. Reappointed to four-year terms are Hughlene Frank and John Cooper.
