Appalachian establishes Board of Visitors

BOONE—Appalachian State University’s Board of Trustees has created a 15-member Board of Visitors to advise and assist trustees and Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock on public policy matters that impact the university.

The new board will also advise and assist with the university’s developmental activities and needs, and help communicate its mission and accomplishments.

The Board of Visitors met for the first time July 20.

Members are J. Cantey Alexander III of Winston-Salem, James M. Barnes of Raleigh, Kirsten Bowden of Charlotte, Hunt Broyhill of Lenoir, Damien Carper of Charlotte, Bob Christy of Asheville, Robert Fox Jr. of Charlotte, Martha Guy of Newland, Jim Harrell of Elkin, Estell Lee Harrelson of Wilmington, Margaret Hayden of Blowing Rock, Steve Metcalf of Weaverville, Morrison Montgomery of Wrightsville Beach, Charlie Murray of Winston-Salem and Steve Shipwash of Garner.

Ex officio members include representatives from the Board of Trustees, Alumni Association, Parents Association and Appalachian State University Foundation.
