Carolinas Medical Center CEO speaks March 27 at Boyles Distinguished CEO Lecture Series
BOONE—Suzanne H. Freeman, president of Carolinas Medical Center, will be the speaker at the Harlan E. Boyles Distinguished CEO Lecture Series March 27 at Appalachian State University.
The event, sponsored by the Walker College of Business, will be held at 2 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. A reception will follow at 3:15 p.m. at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center.
The lecture series is named for the late Harlan E. Boyles, who served for 24 years as N.C. state treasurer. The lecture and reception are open to the public. For more information, call (828) 262-2057.
Freeman directs the operating activities of Carolinas Medical Center and Carolinas Heart Institute, Blumenthal Cancer Center, Med Center Air, transplant program, level III neonatal services and the state-wide poison-control services.
Carolinas Medical Center, located in Charlotte, is a facility of Carolinas Healthcare System and the third largest public healthcare system in the country. The center serves patients throughout the Southeast.
Freeman joined Carolinas Healthcare System in 1975 as a staff nurse. She served as a vice president at Carolinas Medical Center as leader in nursing, surgical services and ambulatory surgery. She also served as president of the Specialty Facilities of Carolinas Healthcare System prior to being named president.
Freeman received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte.
She currently serves on the UNC Charlotte Alumni Board of Governors, the Board of Carolinas Specialty Hospital, MEDIC (Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Services Agency) and the Board of
Carolinas College of Health Sciences.
