Wired Scholar Design Contest

BOONE—Appalachian State University students are invited to submit a design for a sign to Wired Scholar, the coffee shop located in Carol G. Belk Library and Information Commons.

The coffee shop is located in the library’s Don and Pat Phillips Cyber Café. The sign will be cut vinyl mounted on the interior and exterior glass windows of the cyber café.

Students enrolled for the spring 2007 semester may enter, as well as university staff and faculty.

Designs should be submitted on a CD and saved in EPS format. A print out of the design must also be included.

Designs should be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 2 and sent to Design a Sign Contest in care of John Boyd and left at the main reference desk on the first floor of Belk Library.

The decision, to be made by a committee of the coffee shop owners and library personnel, will be announced in mid-April.

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Red Onion Café and a $50 gift certificate to the Campus Book Store. Entries should be accompanied by a statement of no more than 25 words describing the idea behind the design.

Entries should be original and should not include copyrighted or trademarked images.

The winner will be required to sign a contract stating that the design is original and granting all rights to the university library. Entries will be judged on visual appeal and how well the submission relates to the coffee shop’s name, the Wired Scholar. Entrants may submit more than one design, but an entry can be submitted only once.
