“Blazing Bassoons” ensemble performs Feb. 11 at Appalachian

BOONE—A nine-member woodwind ensemble called Blazing Bassoons will perform Sunday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University.

The ensemble is comprised of students Clay Andrews, Rachel Ballard, Kelly Frost, Katie Geouge, Joanna Pardo, Wes Pasour, Mary Speight and Allison Trimbur, and faculty member Jon Beebe.

The program will be selected from the following:

“Concerto in G” by Telemann, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” by Mozart, “Largo al factotum” from Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” Gounod’s “March of a Marionettte,” Peter Schickele’s “Portlandia in Cerulean,” Walter Gross’s “Tenderly,” Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” and Julis Fucik’s “Thunder and Blazes.”
