D06_12Arabic03.jpg She read short selections from “Anubis” by Ibrahim al-Koni, “Dar al-Basha” by Hasan Nasr, “Still Life: Scenes in Gaza Time” by Atif Abu Sayf and “The Dream” by Ibrahim Abd al-Qadir al-Mazini. Also participating in the reading were

Shikha al-Qalaf, an undergraduate student from Kuwait, students Emily Barry and Robert Toler, and William Hutchins from the Department of Philosophy and Religion. Gherwash and Hutchins taught Arabic fall semester to 31 students. Beginning Arabic II and advanced Arabic will be offered spring semester. (Appalachian photo by University Photographer Mike Rominger)
