BOONE – The Diversity Educators of Appalachian State University will host the first Diversity Conference in Plemmons Student Union on Nov. 11, from noon to 6:30 p.m. The conference will highlight speakers from universities across the state who will lead diversity sessions that provide meaningful and informative strategies for creating an environment that is inclusive and welcoming.
Breakout sessions will include topics of race/ethnicity, gender, classism, heterosexism, anti-Semitism and ableism, as well as general sessions on how to make diversity work in groups and organizations.
The theme for the conference is “The Real World: Diversity.”
Registration is open to the public. Cost is $5 and includes dinner and door prizes. Registration deadline is Nov. 3.
