“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Hayes Performing Arts Center to share the talents of our faculty and staff with a wider community,” said Dr. William Harbinson, dean of Appalachian’s Mariam Cannon Hayes School of Music. “We have planned a very entertaining concert series that includes performances by faculty and student chamber groups, jazz ensembles and our chamber orchestra.”

In addition, the size and features of the Hayes Center provide a much-needed venue for the music school’s opera performances. “We have been looking for an appropriately sized hall with an orchestra pit, fly space, workshop that would allow us to present opera and musical theater,” Harbinson said. “The Hayes Center expands the concert and recital space available to us on campus.”
