Soapy Science

071006math.jpgA little dish detergent, water and a hula hoop are all you need to interest children in science. Tamara Martin from Mountain Park Elementary School in Surry County is enveloped by a giant bubble created by Lou Moore, left, from Parkway School and Appalachian State University instructor Judy Sink, who is a retired teacher from Hardin Park School. They participated in a series of activities that teachers can use to help parents and students get involved in science. The workshop was sponsored by The Mathematics and Science Education Center at Appalachian. (Appalachian photo by University Photographer Mike Rominger)
