Appalachian Students Lend a Hand to UNC-TV Fundraising Telethon

BOONE—A group of students representing Appalachian State University’s ACT office will lend a hand and voice to help kick off UNC-TV’s fundraising telethon, Festival 2006, from Research Triangle Park this weekend. The students will take financial pledges from viewers Saturday night, Feb. 25, from 6-11:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 26, from 7-11:30 a.m.

Spending a weekend for a good cause is nothing new for the group, says graduate student Brook Zuroweste from the ACT office who will accompany the students. “These are students who like volunteering,” she said.

About a third of the students participated in last year’s telethon. Look for the volunteer group in their Appalachian T-shirts on Charter Communications channel 13.
