Appalachian’s Jazz Vocal Ensemble Swings and Sings Nov. 9

BOONE—A jazz-filled program awaits music lovers attending a Nov. 9 performance by Appalachian State University’s Jazz Vocal Ensemble. The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.

The Mariam Cannon Hayes School of Music ensemble is directed by music faculty member Roosevelt Escalante Jr.

Program highlights include Luis Prima’s “Sing, Sing, Sing,” Larry Lapin’s arrangement of “Over the Rainbow,” George Shearing’s “Lullabye of Birdland” and “Flintstones” by Bob Stoloff and Randy Crenshaw.
