Library Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

082405library_dl.jpgNew and returning students to Appalachian State University were welcomed to the first day of classes with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Carol Grotnes Belk Library and Information Commons. The faculty opened June 20 after nearly two years of construction. University Librarian Mary Reichel told students, “I know it has been a hassle to live through the construction, but now you get to reap the benefits.” To this year’s freshman she said, “I hope you enjoy this beautiful new facility and the hard work that went into it.” A formal dedication ceremony for the new facility will be held Thursday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. Joining the ribbon cutting were, from left, Reichel, SGA chief of staff Jamian Polk, SGA President Jud Watkins, SGA Director of Academic Affairs Joseph Henderson, Chancellor Kenneth E. Peacock, Provost Stan Aeschelman, Staff Council President Jenny Ware and Faculty Senate Chairman Mike Moore.
