Storyteller Sheila Adams Replaces Lee Smith on Nov. 6 Program

BOONE–Because of a death in the family, Lee Smith will be unable to participate in the Nov. 6 “Storytellers and Songwriters” program, part of the Visiting Writers Series at Appalachian State University.

“Storytellers and Songwriters” begins at 7:30 p.m. in Plemmons Student Union’s Blue Ridge Ballroom. Admission is free, however seating is limited.

Adams is an acclaimed performer of Appalachian ballads passed down for secen generations through her ancestors. She has been a featured performer in several documentary films, was technical director for the film “Songcatcher,” contributed to the film “The Last of the Mochicans” and was cohost and coproducer of the public radio program “Over Home.” She performs year round at major festivals throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.

Her debut novel, “My Old True Love,” will be published by Algonquin in May 2004.
