Lexington Home Brands CEO Robert Stec is Boyles Lecturer

103003stec_dl.jpgBOONE–Robert S. Stec, chairman and chief executive officer of Lexington Home Brands, will be the speaker for the Nov. 12 Harlan E. Boyles Distinguished CEO Lecture at Appalachian State University. The event, sponsored by the Walker College of Business, begins at 2 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. A reception will follow at 3:15 p.m. at the Broyhill Inn.

Stec was named chairman and CEO of Lexington Home Brands in April 2002 following the management-led acquisition of the company from LifeStyle Furnishings International.

He had been the company’s president and CEO since 1999. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president for sales and marketing.

Stec’s past accomplishments demonstrate his ability as an experienced leader in consumer products, marketing and business management. He has served as president of London Fog Industries, New York, chief strategist for Girbaud Worldwide and president and CEO of Hat Brands Inc. in Dallas, Texas. He also held various senior executive and executive marketing positions at VF Corporation, culminating as division president and CEO for VF’s Marithe and Francois Girbaud Division.

A resident of Greensboro, Stec received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA degree from Appalachian.
