Appalachian Percussion Ensemble Performs Nov. 3

The Appalachian Percussion Ensemble will present a concert as part of its Contemporary Trends Series at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. The concert in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall will feature “Styles of the 70s.” Admission is free.

The ensemble is part of the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University and is directed by Rob Falvo. Jason Jordan is the assistant conductor.

The program includes “Green Corn Dance” by John Luther Adams “Piru Bol” by John Bergamo, “Three Studies for Percussion” by Peter Maxwell Davies, “Six Marimbas” by Steve Reich and “Ragtime Dance” by Scott Joplin.

The ensemble also will perform “Chamber Piece” by Scott Meister. Meister is a professor in the Hayes School of Music and directs the Steely Pan Steel Band.
