Summer Preview Program Available to Appalachian’s Incoming Freshman

BOONE — More and more students are choosing to get a head start on their college education by beginning their freshman-year courses in the summer.

Appalachian State University’s SummerPreview Program offers incoming students six hours of academic credit.

During a five-week period from July 1-Aug. 2, students live in a residence hall, take the university’s Freshman Seminar and another core curriculum class, and participate in a variety of cultural and mountain adventure activities in the area. The program also helps ease the transition from high school to college.

The cost is $1,108 for in-state students and $2,104 for out-of-state students. The cost includes an activity fee, tuition, and room and board.

Enrollment is limited to 120 students and usually fills by early May.

SummerPreview representatives will be at the university’s Spring Open House in Varsity Gym on April 7 to meet with interested students and parents.

For more information, call the Freshman Seminar office at (828) 262-2028.
