Horn Performances Featured April 30

BOONE — “Cornocopia,” a student recital featuring horn players at Appalachian State University, will be held Sunday, April 30, at 6 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program includes “Prelude for Unaccompanied Horn” by R. Braun featuring Nathan Hannan; “Concerto No. 1 in D Major for Horn and Orchestra” by Mozart featuring Mary Clayton Liles on horn and Linda Jackson on piano; “Laudatio” by Bernard Krol featuring Thomas Panepinto; and “Concertino for Horn and Piano” by Carl Maria von Weber featuring Emily Jaynes on horn and Holly Walton on piano.

Other selections are “Four Short Pieces” by Halsey Stevens featuring Matthew Miller; “Concerto No. 1 for Horn and Orchestra” by Richard Strauss featuring Kristen Alley on horn and Erin Witcher on piano; “Fantasy for Horn” by Malcolm Arnold featuring James Boldin; “Nocturne” by Reinhold Gliere featuring Michel Nelson on horn and John Robertson on piano.

Mozart’s

“Concerto No. 4 in E flat Major for Horn and Orchestra” features Jennifer Mauney on horn and Linda Jackson on piano; “Romance” by Camille Saint-Saens featuring Margaret Whitney Wolfe on horn and Jackson on piano; “Concerto No. 1 For Horn and Orchestra, Op. 8″ by Franz Strauss features Jason Maynard on horn and Jackson on piano; “Aubade” by Sparre Olsen features Conja Summerlin on horn and Elke Jahns on flute; “Concertino in F” by Frederick Kuhlau features Emily Jaynes and James Boldin on horn and Holly Walton on piano; and “Nocturno” by Franz Strauss features Kevin Burke on horn and Linda Jackson on piano.
